Hi There!

I’m Derek Wetter, a designer and illustrator. Throughout my creative career, my work has been used by universities, small businesses, ad agencies, coffee shops, bands, theaters, non-profits, and Fortune 500 companies. I believe design should adapt to fit what a client or project needs, but my personal style includes playful use of type, simple illustrations, bold shapes, and a fondness for mid-century color palettes.

Although I grew up next to graveyards in eerie Ohio, I now resides in sunny San Diego with my wife and three children. The weather is as nice as you might imagine, but I’m in constant want of crisp autumns and the need to dress in layers. Beyond design, I enjoy sipping on too much black coffee, singing bad renditions of 80s songs, watching Cary Grant movies, and making pretentious popcorn.

I keep good company. Here are the go-to creatives I tap to help when projects call for their expertise.

Franchesca Wetter

Everything Franchesca touches can be summed up with two words—excellence and elegance. Whether it’s copywriting or art direction, her attention to detail and impeccable taste takes every project to a higher level.

Chris Brantly

Chris Brantly was forged in the golden era of advertising. His talent and experience has made him a creative powerhouse that has elevated countless companies. From comic strips to colleges, he’s branded it all to perfection.

Howie McCormick

Howie has shot countless people just to watch them smile—because he’s a photographer. Beyond being the man behind the lens, he has taught at Imaging USA, SYNC, and LightPro. Oh, and he loves Dr. Pepper more than anyone ever.
